J'man, formerly Jeman, of a small fishingstead under Ista Hold. Searched when he was sixteen, failed the first hatching, but successfully Impressed green Radeth at the next one. This was only a few Turns after the last Pass ended, taking the threat of Thread with it. He became a dragonrider at a time when their existence was beginning to breed resentment in Holds that no longer saw a need to tithe their best products to an outdated defense force.
Weyr life is a culture shock for him--but one that he welcomes, relieved to be encouraged to be outgoing instead of stoicly silent. Although he may change his mind when Radeth rises to mate.
J'man is friendly and outgoing, but level-headed. He is excellent at mediating conflicts. He loves to talk to people and hear their stories. Had he been born in a larger hold, he surely would have wound up in the harper guild, but where he comes from, there's pretty much only one career path: fisherman. He was lucky to be Searched, it was his only way out. He's not flamboyant by any means, and it often surprises people to find that he rides a green; he has the sort of personality generally more attributed to brown riders.
